SPACE

There are some big questions for us to ask as humans:

  • How did we get here?
  • Are we alone in the universe?
  • What is it like in space?

In this unit you will work in teams to explore these questions and understand a bit more about the universe we live in. Most importantly you will be researching information and choosing what is most important to present to others.

Use the links to find out more about space, investigate the planets or be amazed by the photos taken by the hubble telescope.

Anyway bloggers - how do you think we got here (I mean this world, this universe and you and I?) Leave a post.

Reflective Learners

Phew...you are 1/6th of your way through year 7. Congratulations on what has been a great start to secondary school for most of you.

A smart learner is someone who knows:
  • What they are doing well.
  • What they need to improve.
  • How to improve (or who to ask if you don't know)
So, leave a comment. What are you most proud of from this first unit on Survival? What do you think will make you a better learner for the next half term? You may even want to say what someone else has done well.

Our next topic is...SPACE. Have a look at the amazing images of space. What questions do they lead you to ask?

A Survival Book Review

Well done for your first few weeks year 7 TOTALers. Your homelearning challenge is that you are to:

a) Select a book or article on the topic of SURVIVAL.

b) Get your parent / carer to check with you that it is at the right level for you (not too hard, not too easy).

c) Read the book / article.

d) Prepare a presentation to be given to the class in the last week of this half term on:

  • WHO (wrote it, who are the main characters?)
  • WHEN (was it written, when is it set?)
  • WHAT (Happens)
  • WHY (would you recommend it or not recommend it, why did you choose it?)
  • WHERE (was it set, where did you get the book)

The Learning Resource Centre has a selection of books, there are links on the right and the Cornwall Libraries Search engine all to help you.

If you can't see Mr Beech's example in the video above follow this link to youtube where you can also watch it.
